Srinagar, Sep 28: In a significant security success, joint forces of the Indian Army and Border Security Force (BSF) on Sunday foiled an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district, killing two terrorists.
Sources confirmed that the infiltration attempt took place in the Keran sector, a known hotspot along the LoC. Troops detected suspicious movement and swiftly launched an anti-infiltration operation. The operation is still underway, with additional details yet to be officially released.
This latest encounter comes amid heightened alertness along the borders, especially after the suspension of Operation Sindoor, which has now transitioned into a broader, more aggressive counter-terrorism strategy.

Focus on Dismantling the Entire Terror Network
Security agencies are now not only targeting armed terrorists but also aiming to dismantle the entire ecosystem that supports militancy in the region. This includes overground workers (OGWs), sympathisers, drug traffickers, and hawala money operators—all of whom are believed to fuel terrorism through funding and logistical support.
Tighter Border Surveillance Ahead of Winter
As winter nears and mountain passes begin to close due to snowfall, infiltrations along the LoC often see a spike. To preempt this, the Army and BSF are maintaining 24/7 surveillance along both the 740-km-long LoC and the 240-km International Border (IB). Special focus has been placed on sensitive sectors in Baramulla, Kupwara, Bandipora, Rajouri, and Poonch.
Rising Threat from Drones and Smuggling Networks
Security agencies have also reported increasing use of drones by Pakistan-based terror outfits to drop arms, ammunition, drugs, and cash into Indian territory. These payloads are typically picked up by OGWs who facilitate their delivery to militants.
The BSF has deployed anti-drone systems to counter this growing menace and has already had success in intercepting multiple aerial incursions along the IB.
This latest encounter in Kupwara underscores the continued threat of cross-border terrorism and the Indian forces’ preparedness to counter any attempts to destabilize the region.
