North Carolina, Sep 28: At least three people were killed and several others injured when an active shooter opened fire from a boat at the American Fish Company restaurant in Southport, North Carolina, on Saturday evening. The incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. local time at 150 Yacht Basin Drive, in the Southport Yacht Basin area, about 20 miles south of Wilmington.

Authorities confirmed that seven people were shot, with three pronounced dead at the scene. The remaining victims were rushed to local hospitals, though their conditions have not been disclosed.

City Manager Noah Saldo stated that a boat pulled up to the restaurant, began firing into the crowd, and then fled the scene. Residents were urged to stay indoors, avoid the area, and report any suspicious activity to 911.

The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that it is assisting the Southport Police Department, along with multiple other law enforcement agencies, in handling the ongoing situation. Officials continue to search for the suspect, and the incident remains under investigation.

Emergency response teams continue to assess the situation, and while chatter suggested multiple fatalities, authorities have not verified numbers beyond the confirmed three deaths. The public is advised to remain cautious and report any suspicious activity immediately.
