Mangaluru: Samvada Youth Festival on mental health organised at Roshni Nilaya

Mangaluru, Sep 27: Samvada Mangalore Youth Resource Centre, in collaboration with the School of Social Work Roshni Nilaya and Yuva Munnade, successfully organised a youth festival at the Maria Paiva Auditorium, Roshni Nilaya.

The chief guest, Dr Meena Monteiro, dean of the PG department, addressed the gathering on the importance of mental health among youth. The keynote address was delivered by Manjula Sunil, youth action convenor Samvada Sahyana. Youth leader Nasiha shared her inspiring journey with the Youth Resource Centre.

The event featured insightful sessions by eminent speakers. Dr Shalini R, researcher and youth rights worker from Bengaluru, spoke on social systems and youth mental health, while Prof Ravichandra Karkal, head of psychiatry and consultant psychiatrist at Yenepoya Hospital, conducted a session on Youth and Mental Health.

Youth leaders Azeem, Mehtha, Moksha, Theertha Prasad, Thushar, Varun, and Nikhil also shared their experiences and contributions as part of Samvada’s initiatives. Sarik Ankitha, student dean progression, was present on the occasion.

The formal programme began with a welcome address by Pavithra Jyothigudde, senior programme associate, and concluded with a vote of thanks from youth leader Harshith. The event was hosted by Krithi.

The cultural segment of the festival showcased a variety of performances by the Koral Art team and Samvada youth, adding vibrancy and creativity to the day’s proceedings.
