Mangaluru, Sep 26: Two persons who had absconded without appearing before the court in separate cases registered at Barke police station and Mangaluru East police station have been arrested.
The arrested are Sheikh Shahbaz (31), a resident of Abtas Haji Compound, Mangaluru, who had been evading court appearance for the past five years, and Mohammad Nizamuddin alias Bro Nizam (30), a resident of Kasaba Bengre, who had been absconding for a year.

Shahbaz was apprehended from Suruguru area under Hindupur 2 Town police station limits in Sri Sathya Sai district of Andhra Pradesh. He was arrested on September 24 night by Barke station warrant staff Chetan BR and Mohan, with the assistance of Hindupur 2 Town station inspector Abdul Kareem and crime staff. Another case has also been registered against him at Barke station for failing to appear before court.
In addition, Shahbaz faces two cases in Barke station and several others under various laws including the Karnataka Prisoners Act, POCSO Act, and NDPS Act, registered at Mangaluru North, Mangaluru South, and Konaje police stations.
Meanwhile, Nizamuddin alias Bro Nizam was arrested on September 25 around 5 pm by Mangaluru East police station ASI Machindranath Jogi along with staff Abhishek and Vithal Gadad under the guidance of inspector Anant Padmanabh. Another case has been registered against him at Mangaluru East police station for failing to appear before court.
He also has warrants pending at Bantwal Town and Udupi Town police stations and faces cases under the NDPS Act and Karnataka Prisoners Act at Mangaluru East, Panambur, Urwa, and Mangaluru South police stations.
