Jaipur, Sep 24: In a heart-wrenching incident, four members of a family — including a five-year-old boy — lost their lives after a speeding dumper truck collided with a motorcycle in the Thanagazi area of Rajasthan’s Alwar district on Wednesday morning.
The accident occurred near Jhiri Stand on Dausa Road around 9:30 a.m., when the dumper, reportedly moving at high speed, rammed into the bike carrying all four victims. The impact was so violent that three died instantly, while the fourth succumbed to injuries en route to Jaipur.
The deceased were identified as residents of Mejod village in Thanagazi. The victims include:
• Babulal (40), son of Badrilal
• Monu (5), son of Jagannath
• Ashok (22), son of Sarwan
• Narsi (25), son of Naina Ram (died on the way to hospital)
According to eyewitnesses, the dumper driver attempted to flee the scene after the accident. However, local villagers pursued the vehicle and managed to stop it near Piplai Station by deflating its tyres. In a fit of rage, the driver was beaten by the mob before being handed over to the police.
News of the tragic deaths quickly spread, leading to massive public outrage. Residents, frustrated by the increasing number of accidents caused by reckless and overloaded heavy vehicles, staged a protest. They blocked State Highways 52 and 77 at the Alwar-Jaipur intersection in Pratapgarh, resulting in a massive traffic jam lasting several hours.
Villagers accused authorities of turning a blind eye to the unchecked movement of speeding dumpers and trucks, which they claim has made the region dangerous for local commuters. Protesters demanded:
• Immediate arrest and strict action against the dumper driver
• A ban on overloaded dumpers on the route
• Permanent safety measures to prevent future accidents
Police have reached the protest site and are trying to bring the situation under control. However, tensions remain high, with villagers refusing to call off the protest until concrete assurances are given.
The tragic loss of a young child and three adults from the same family has sent shockwaves through the community, highlighting the urgent need for better road safety enforcement in rural Rajasthan.
