Bhavnagar, Sep 20: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday declared that India has no major global adversary, calling the nation’s dependence on foreign countries its “biggest enemy.”
Addressing a massive gathering in Gujarat’s Bhavnagar, Modi said, “If we have any enemy, it is our dependence on others. We must defeat this enemy of India.” He stressed that self-reliance is essential for national pride, dignity, and security, warning that foreign dependence undermines the future of 1.4 billion citizens.
Modi blamed successive Congress governments for stifling India’s potential—first through the license-quota raj, and later by excessive reliance on imports during globalisation. He said these policies deprived India’s youth of opportunities and stalled the country’s true growth.
During the visit, the Prime Minister inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for maritime, energy, health, transport, and urban projects worth over ?34,200 crore, underlining his push for an Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India).
