Dera Ismail Khan, Sep 16: The Pakistani entertainment industry is in mourning following the untimely death of 15-year-old child star Umer Shah, Dawn reported. Umer, known for his infectious smile and charm on screen, passed away early Monday due to cardiac arrest. Family and medical reports stated that vomiting led to fluid entering his lungs, triggering the fatal cardiovascular episode. Earlier, a poisonous snake incident in the home was noted, though its connection to the tragedy remains uncertain.
Ahmed Shah, Umer’s elder brother, confirmed the heartbreaking news on Instagram, requesting prayers for the family. "This is to inform you that the little shining star of our family, Umer Shah, has returned to Allah Almighty. I request everyone to remember him and our family in your prayers," he wrote. The family had earlier suffered the loss of their youngest sister, Ayesha, in November 2023.
Umer had gained popularity as a social media sensation and TV personality, often appearing alongside his elder brother on shows like ARY Digital’s Jeeto Pakistan and Shan-e-Ramazan. Known for his innocent humour, including the viral "peeche tou dekho" reel, he quickly became a fan favourite.
Celebrities expressed deep sorrow over his passing. Host Fahad Mustafa said he was “speechless” over the loss, while actor Adnan Siddiqui described Umer as “a beam of light, joy and innocence” and added, “I am shattered… it feels impossible that he’s no longer with us.” Waseem Badami confirmed the cause of death after consulting doctors. Aijaz Aslam remembered Umer as “a little angel” and “a bright, kind soul who brought smiles to everyone.”
Tributes also poured in from Mahira Khan, Hina Altaf, Momal Sheikh, Shaista Lodhi, former cricketer Sarfaraz Ahmed, and child influencer Muhammad Shiraz, who described the loss as “losing a part of myself.”
