Washington, Sep 16: US Vice President JD Vance has said that late conservative activist Charlie Kirk “could have been President,” condemning the culture of hatred that led to his assassination. Speaking on The Charlie Kirk Show, which he hosted from his office at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, Vance said, “He was gunned down by an assassin's bullet, and we will not rest until those responsible are held accountable,” Mint reported.
Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA and a prominent voice in President Donald Trump's MAGA movement, was shot on September 10 during a political event at Utah Valley University. A graphic video capturing the shooting circulated on social media soon after.
On September 13, Erika Kirk, Charlie’s wife, addressed supporters for the first time since the killing. She said, “We have no idea what they have unleashed across this country,” and affirmed that her husband’s voice would remain “louder and more clearly than ever.” She also addressed the President and Vice President directly, praising their friendship with Charlie and thanking law enforcement for their efforts in apprehending the suspect.
The FBI is investigating potential links between the suspect, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, and leftist groups in Utah, Fox News Digital reported. Robinson was reportedly turned in by his father after being identified in surveillance footage released by the FBI.
