Amravati, Sep 10: In a swift action against wildlife crime, the Forest Department arrested five individuals for the illegal hunting of a monitor lizard in the Sawangi beat of the Parva forest range within Tipeshwar Sanctuary.
The incident came to light on September 7 during a routine patrol. Following immediate action, the accused were apprehended on September 8. When produced in court on September 9, the court granted three days of forest custody.
The operation was conducted under the guidance of M Adarsh Reddy, Conservator of Forests and Field Director, Melghat Tiger Project, Amravati, with the active involvement of Divisional Forest Officer Uttam Phad, Assistant Conservator of Forests Uday Ahad, Range Forest Officers Prashant Sonule and others, along with the Parva forest staff.
Further investigation into the case is ongoing under the supervision of RFO (Wildlife) Prashant Sonule.
