Trump aide targets India’s “Keyboard Minions” after being fact-checked on tariff claims

Washington, Sep 10: US President Donald Trump’s trade adviser, Peter Navarro, has lashed out at Indians online, calling them “keyboard minions” after his claims on tariffs were fact-checked through Community Notes on X.

Navarro, who has been critical of New Delhi’s purchase of Russian oil, alleged that Indians were manipulating the platform to silence him.

“India’s keyboard minions are hijacking X’s Community Notes to bury the facts. They’re furious about losing unfettered access to US markets—even as India, the Maharaja of Tariffs, keeps some of the world’s highest trade barriers,” Navarro posted.

He repeated his earlier assertions that India’s steep tariffs on American imports were costing US jobs. Navarro also claimed that New Delhi’s import of discounted Russian crude was profit-driven, adding that revenues from such deals were indirectly supporting President Vladimir Putin’s war in Ukraine.

The remarks come even as India and the United States agreed to resume trade talks, aimed at ironing out differences on tariffs and market access.
