Kathmandu, Sep 10: The Nepal Army on Wednesday imposed nationwide restrictive orders followed by a curfew in an unprecedented move to control potential unrest, vandalism, and arson under the guise of protests.

According to the Army’s statement, the restrictive orders will remain in force across the country from morning until 5 pm, after which a curfew will be enforced until 6 am on Thursday.

The Army warned that any form of demonstration, vandalism, arson, or attacks targeting people and property during this period would be treated as a criminal offense and dealt with strictly. The statement also flagged possible risks of looting, violent assaults, and even sexual crimes if preventive steps were not taken.

“Keeping in view the security situation in the country, restrictive orders and curfew have been enforced,” the Army stated.

However, exemptions have been granted for vehicles and personnel engaged in essential services such as ambulances, fire brigades, health workers, and security forces.

The emergency measures come amid rising tensions and fears of unrest, as authorities remain on high alert to prevent escalation.
