New Delhi, Sep 5: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday extended warm greetings on the occasion of Teacher’s Day, lauding teachers for their immense role in shaping the lives of students and building the nation’s future.
Remembering former President Dr S Radhakrishnan, whose birth anniversary is marked as Teacher’s Day since 1962, PM Modi described him as a “distinguished scholar and teacher” whose ideas continue to inspire generations.

Posting on X, the Prime Minister wrote: “Wishing everyone, particularly all hardworking teachers, a very happy #TeachersDay! The dedication of teachers to nurturing minds is the foundation of a stronger and brighter future. Their commitment and compassion are noteworthy. We also remember the life and thoughts of Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, a distinguished scholar and teacher, on his birth anniversary.”
He stressed that teachers are not only guides in classrooms but also play a vital role in instilling values and life skills, inspiring and motivating students to become responsible citizens.
Observed annually on September 5, Teacher’s Day is a tribute to the educators who strengthen the very foundation of society and leave a lasting imprint on generations.
