Patna, Sep 2: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday expressed deep anguish over what he called an unforgivable act — the public vilification of his late mother during a political rally held by the Congress-RJD alliance in Bihar. Addressing a gathering of women via video conference, PM Modi said the incident not only hurt him as a son but also dishonored mothers across the country.
“This isn’t just an attack on my mother’s memory; it’s an attack on the dignity of every mother in India,” he said, visibly emotional. Modi criticized the declining standards of political discourse in poll-bound Bihar, calling it a new low that reflects a culture of "gaali politics" — politics fueled by abuse and slander.

The Prime Minister took direct aim at the Congress-RJD alliance, accusing them of resorting to personal attacks and derogatory language, even against someone who is no longer alive. “I never thought political rivalry could stoop this low,” he said. “As a son, this is deeply painful.”
Modi also invoked the contrast between "naamdars" (those from elite political families) and "kaamdars" (those who have risen through hard work), suggesting that the Opposition’s privileged mindset drives them to demean others, particularly those from humble backgrounds.
“They think it’s their birthright to insult and belittle people like us,” Modi said. “But they will never understand the sacrifices that mothers make for their children, especially in families like ours.”
Taking a swipe at the language used by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi during the Voter Adhikar Yatra, Modi said that the tone and choice of words reflect an anti-women attitude embedded in the Opposition's political culture.
Calling on Bihar’s youth — both men and women — Modi urged them to demand accountability from political parties that fail to respect women and their contributions to society.
“You may receive my forgiveness,” he said, “but Bihar will not forgive those who dishonor our mothers.”
