Bantwal: Deva Matha Church, Mogarnad celebrates Youth Day

Bantwal, Sep 1: Deva Matha Church, Mogarnad marked Youth Day on August 31 as part of its 250th jubilee anniversary celebrations. Youths aged 17 to 28 actively participated in the event, along with members of the St John Paul Varado II ICYM unit, fostering a spirit of collaboration and community engagement.

The programme commenced with registration and breakfast, followed by a stage event. Fr Anil Canute D’Mello, parish priest of Mogarnad, welcomed the gathering, while Fr Ivan Michael Rodrigues addressed the youth, emphasizing that God-given talents must be wisely utilized for the betterment of the Church, society, and family. He encouraged the youth to recognize themselves as the true pillars of these three institutions.

Following addresses by the youth presidents, the programme was officially handed over to the chief guest, Fr Ashwin Lohith Cardoza director of the ICYM diocese unit. He led interactive group activities, training the youth in leadership skills and guiding them on meaningful societal contributions.

A special mass dedicated to the youth was celebrated, followed by lunch. The event also featured a competition titled ‘Yeya Hasuya', showcasing the talents of participants from different youth zones.

The celebration was graced by several dignitaries, including Fr Anil Canute D’Mello, Fr Ivan Michael Rodrigues, Fr Ashwin Lohith Cardoza, Fr Naveen Prakash Pinto, Br Priston D’Souza, Santhosh D’Souza, Wilfred Lobo, Emiliana D’Cunha, Sr Annie, Naveen Rajesh D’Cunha, Jaison D’Souza, Dilroy Mascarenhas, Prashanth Louis, and Melroy D’Souza, along with all committee members and unit in-charges.

Melvita Cristal Perera served as the master of ceremonies, while Delisha Lobo delivered the vote of thanks. The programme concluded with a prayer service conducted by the ICYM Mogarnad unit.
