New Delhi, Aug 31: The Election Commission of India (ECI) announced that only one day remains for filing claims and objections on the draft electoral roll for Bihar, which currently lists 7.24 crore electors, under the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2025.

The draft roll was published on August 1 and is under scrutiny through claims and objections submitted by political parties, citizens, and Booth Level Agents (BLAs). A total of 1,60,813 BLAs were appointed by political parties during the revision period. The Bharatiya Janata Party appointed the highest number with 53,338, followed by RJD with 47,506, JD(U) with 36,550, and the Congress with 17,549.

So far, political parties have filed 25 claims for inclusion and 103 objections for exclusion. In contrast, individual citizens have been far more active, submitting 33,326 claims for inclusion and 2,07,565 objections for exclusion. Of these, 38,342 cases have already been resolved.

Over 15.32 lakh young electors aged 18 and above have applied for inclusion in the voter list via Form 6, with 81,073 cases already disposed of within seven days of submission.

The ECI reiterated that the final day to file claims or objections is September 1, 2025. Eligible citizens not listed in the draft roll may apply using Form 6, while objections to ineligible names must be submitted via Form 7. Submissions must be supported by valid documents such as Aadhaar.

BLAs of recognised political parties can also file claims and objections on behalf of electors, provided they include the necessary declarations.

The SIR was launched on June 24, 2025, with the goal of ensuring accuracy and legal compliance in the preparation of electoral rolls. The Commission emphasized that “pure electoral rolls strengthen democracy” and that the final verified list will be made publicly available and published on the official website of the CEO, Bihar.
