Solemn feast of St Mary of Jesus Crucified observed with devotion at Cloistered Carmel Convent

Mangaluru, Aug 28: The feast of St Mary of Jesus Crucified was observed at the Cloistered Carmel Convent on August 27.

The holy hour was conducted by Fr Jossy OCD, who led the congregation in prayer while the Blessed Sacrament was being exposed and Carmelite brother, Br Loy Crasta conducted the choir.

The rector of the Jeppu seminary along with the Carmelite Fathers and the Jesuits, concelebrated the Eucharistic High Mass giving a fitting homily on the theme of prayer and love, bringing forth the true essence of contemplation and meditation.

The liturgy was conducted by the OCDS members belonging to the Sacred Heart Monastery (English group) under the guidance of Fr Deep OCD. In spite the rain, the faithful attended in large numbers. After the celebration, St Mariam’s prayer card was distributed.

Followed by Mass, was fellowship wherein, the clergy and the faithful visited the parlour and were joyfully greeted by the Carmelite sisters. The OCDS members were gifted with an image and book on the life of St Mary of Jesus Crucified. There was a distribution of delicious snacks.

Having great devotion to St Mary of Jesus Crucified, the devotees spent time in prayer before her shrine at entrance of the convent which was decorated in honour of the feast and were given relics of the saint.
