Mumbai, Aug 27: Bollywood actors Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor are gearing up for the release of their much-awaited film Param Sundari on August 29. The film has generated notable buzz on social media, but industry watchers say the real challenge will be at the box office.

Sidharth’s recent outings have struggled to leave a mark. Yodha earned Rs 53.5 cr worldwide against its Rs 55 cr budget, while Thank God managed Rs 48.99 cr on a budget of Rs 70 cr. Earlier, Marjaavan collected Rs 62 cr on a Rs 50 cr budget, and Aiyaary flopped with just Rs 30.59 cr against Rs 65 cr. Ittefaq did relatively better, grossing Rs 51.47 cr on a Rs 20 ` budget.

Janhvi too has had mixed results. Ulajh brought in only Rs 11.25 cr worldwide on a Rs 35 cr budget, and Mili earned just Rs 3.82 cr on a Rs 10 cr budget. Roohi collected Rs 28.7 cr on a Rs 25 cr budget, while Mr and Mrs Mahi narrowly missed clean-hit status with Rs 51.25 cr on a Rs 40 cr budget. However, she tasted success with the big-banner Devara, which crossed Rs 421 cr globally on a Rs 300 cr budget.

Speaking to NDTV, trade expert Ramesh Bala said, “Param Sundari has the potential to end the box office drought for both Sidharth and Janhvi. But advance bookings alone cannot determine success. Reviews, word of mouth, and audience response after release will decide its fate.”

With both actors seeking a much-needed breakthrough, all eyes are now on Param Sundari as it hits theatres nationwide on August 29.
