New Delhi, Aug 27: India and Kuwait on Tuesday carried out a comprehensive review of their bilateral relations and discussed ways to further deepen cooperation across strategic sectors including trade, defence, energy, culture, and people-to-people ties.

The seventh round of Foreign Office Consultations was held in New Delhi, co-chaired by Aseem R Mahajan, Additional Secretary (Gulf), Ministry of External Affairs, and Sameeh Essa Johar Hayat, Assistant Foreign Minister for Asia Affairs, Kuwait.

Both sides exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual interest and reaffirmed their commitment to advancing the strategic roadmap set during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Kuwait in December 2024. It was also agreed to convene meetings of the Joint Working Groups under the Joint Commission for Cooperation at the earliest.

Ambassador Sameeh Johar Hayat also met Arun Kumar Chatterjee, Secretary, CPV and OIA, during his visit.

India and Kuwait enjoy close historical ties, with bilateral trade currently standing at USD 10.2 billion in FY25. The presence of over one million Indians in Kuwait continues to serve as a strong pillar of the enduring partnership.
