Venice, Aug 24: The filming of Lily Collins’s hit series Emily in Paris Season 5 has been suspended following the sudden death of assistant director Diego Borella on set in Italy.

According to reports, the 47-year-old collapsed during preparations for a scene at Hotel Danieli in Venice. On-site medical staff tried to revive him, but he was declared dead at the scene. A local doctor later confirmed he suffered a sudden heart attack.

Borella, a Venetian professional trained in Rome, London, and New York, had recently joined the crew. Apart from filmmaking, he had also worked in the fields of visual arts and literature. An official statement from the makers is awaited.

The tragic news comes days after first-look pictures of the upcoming season were released by Collins, who announced the show’s return on December 18. The new season follows Emily’s adventures in Italy, where she takes charge of Agence Grateau Rome while navigating personal and professional challenges.
