Hoshiarpur, Aug 23: A devastating accident occurred in Mandiala village, Hoshiarpur, Punjab, when an LPG tanker collided with a pickup truck, triggering a massive explosion and fire. Authorities said the incident likely began when a car collided with the tanker, causing a gas leak that led to the blast.
Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain confirmed that fire tenders, ambulances, and Punjab Police were swiftly deployed. “The fire broke out, probably due to a road accident. Patients with burn injuries have been admitted to the hospital. One casualty has been reported. It appears that a gas leak occurred following a road accident involving a gas tanker,” she said, adding that some migrant workers in the industrial area may also be among the injured.

Punjab Minister Ravjot Singh visited the site and hospital, assuring government support to affected families. “A very tragic accident has happened. It is not yet known how many people are missing. People are saying a tanker hit a car, after which a blast occurred because gas leaked. The fire has spread widely,” he stated.
Further details about the casualties and the extent of damage are awaited.
