Hyderabad, Aug 22: A 14-year-old boy was detained by the Hyderabad police on Friday for brutally stabbing his 10-year-old neighbour to death during a robbery attempt at her home.
According to police, the shocking incident took place on Monday when the victim, identified as Sahasra, a Class 6 student, was home alone due to a school holiday. The boy, armed with a knife, entered the house knowing her parents were away. When the girl spotted him and tried to raise an alarm by holding on to his shirt, the accused allegedly attacked her in a fit of rage.

“He stabbed her at least 18 times and later slit her throat to ensure she was dead,” an official told The Indian Express. The accused then fled the house, hid in a nearby building for 15 minutes, and later returned home. His family lived next door to the victim.
The crime came to light when the girl’s father, who had returned home around 12:30 pm to pick up lunch for his younger son, found her lying in a pool of blood with the house door half open. His wife, who works at a medical lab, had left home around 11 am.
Investigations revealed that the teenager had been preparing for the crime for some time. His browsing history included searches on how to break open locks, how to enter homes unnoticed, and how to escape. Police later raided his house and seized a bloodstained knife, clothes, and a paper with handwritten notes on burglary methods. At the bottom of the page, the words “Mission Don” were scrawled in pencil.
A local resident had earlier alerted police after noticing the boy’s suspicious movements. When officers visited his school, the teenager refused to cooperate. Subsequent raids led to the recovery of key evidence linking him to the crime.
CCTV footage also confirmed that no outsiders such as delivery agents or couriers had entered the society, leading police to conclude that someone familiar with the family’s routine was behind the attack.
The gruesome murder has left the locality in shock, with police assuring that further investigation is underway.
