Udupi, Aug. 21: Vidhushi Deeksha V has embarked on an extraordinary journey to etch her name in the Golden Book of World Records by performing continuously for 216 hours over 9 days.
The record dance marathon, spanning 216 continuous hours, commenced on August 21 at 3:30 pm at the Dr G Shankar Women’s College PG Auditorium, Ajjarkad, and will conclude on August 30.
The event was inaugurated by former MLA Raghupathi Bhat along with several dignitaries by lighting the ceremonial lamp..

Former MLA Ragupathi Bhat said, “Deeksha has taken up this challenge with the aim of setting a record and pledged to dance for nine days. She has prepared herself well for it. When she first approached me with this idea, I was surprised, but with courage, determination, and confidence, anything is possible. I truly hope her attempt succeeds and brings pride to Udupi. This college, being a temple of Goddess Saraswathi, has blessed her as its alumna.”
Shankar Poojary also extended his wishes, calling it “a proud moment as she takes a strong step toward a world record.”
Vidwan Shridhar Rao said, “My student Deeksha is attempting to set a Golden Book of World Record, and she deserves everyone’s blessings. When she first approached me, I advised her to complete her Vidwath exam and prepare thoroughly. Having a dedicated student like her makes all our efforts and teaching truly worthwhile.”
Yashwanth M G, renowned singer said, “I had earlier set a Golden Book of World Record by singing continuously for 24 hours. Later, when I visited her college as a guest, Deeksha approached me with this idea. When I asked about expenses, she reached out to Ragupathi Bhat, who then suggested involving Mahesh Thakur, and that’s how the planning began. We first considered the challenges, then worked out the positives, and finally designed the entire process. The rules for singing and dancing are different, she will get a 15-minute break every three hours. This attempt will put her under great mental pressure, so every smile and encouragement from the audience will motivate her. The Asian head of the Golden Book will also be present to oversee the event.”
Deeksha V expressed her excitement and gratitude stating, “I am happy to begin this journey. I wish for everyone’s support and blessings.”
The record attempt is supported by Ratna Sanjeeva Kalamandala, Manipal, under the leadership of Mahesh Thakur and with the guidance of former Udupi MLA K Raghupathi Bhat.
