Brahmavar, Aug 21: Police took Mahesh Shetty Thimarodi into custody at his residence in connection with a case filed at Brahmavar police station.

The case was registered against Thimarodi for making provocative statements against BJP national organizing secretary B L Santhosh through a social media post. The complaint was lodged by Rajeev Kulal, Udupi rural BJP president, at Brahmavar police station.

Supporters and activists raised slogans in favour of Thimarodi near Sarvajna Circle, close to the Karkala taluk office, as he was being taken to Brahmavar police station.

Thimarodi, who was brought from Beltangady, was being escorted to Brahmavar police station when the incident occurred. Along the way, activists expressed their support by chanting slogans for him.

In view of the tense situation following the detention of Mahesh Shetty Thimarodi, Udupi deputy commissioner imposed prohibitory orders in the vicinity of the Brahmavar police station. The move aims to maintain law and order and prevent any untoward incidents.
