Bantwal: Guarantee schemes have made Karnataka women self-reliant - Soumya Reddy

Bantwal, Aug 19: Karnataka Pradesh Mahila Congress president Soumya Reddy said that through its guarantee schemes, the state Congress government has made women self-reliant and dignified.

She was speaking after inaugurating a women’s convention organised jointly by Bantwal and Panemangalore block Mahila Congress committees under the leadership of former minister and KPCC vice president B Ramanath Rai at Sparsha Kala Mandira, BC Road, on Tuesday, August 19.

Calling upon women to undergo health check-ups at least once a year, she urged them to give priority to their health and strive to live with self-respect. She added that Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, Siddaramaiah, and D K Shivakumar have ensured the implementation of all election promises made to women in a short period, thereby strengthening their hands. “Because of women-centric initiatives and empowerment measures, I am confident that people will once again support the Congress in the forthcoming local body elections,” she said.

Presiding over the event, former minister B Ramanath Rai recalled the women-oriented schemes introduced by previous Congress governments and explained their relevance in the present context.

Bantwal block Mahila Congress president Lavina Wilma Moras welcomed the gathering, Panemangalore Mahila Congress president Ida Suresh proposed the vote of thanks, and district Jawahar Bal Manch president Shailaja Rajesh compered the programme.
