Terrorist's property seized in Anantnag as crackdown on support network intensifies

Srinagar, Aug 19: In a continued effort to dismantle the terror support infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir, police in Anantnag have attached the immovable property of an active terrorist. The land, located in Guree, Bijbehara under Khasra No. 165min, belongs to Adil Hussain Thoker, son of Wali Mohammed Thoke, and has been seized under Section 83 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

The action is linked to FIR No. 11/2023, registered under various sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and the EIMCO Act, reflecting ongoing investigations into terror-related activities. Authorities said the move is part of a broader strategy targeting not only armed terrorists but also Over Ground Workers (OGWs), sympathisers, and financial enablers of militancy in the region.

Joint operations involving the army, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), and Jammu and Kashmir Police have been stepped up, focusing on root-level disruption of the terror ecosystem rather than just targeting individual operatives. Police reiterated their resolve to uphold peace, security, and the rule of law, warning that similar actions will continue against those aiding unlawful activities.

In parallel, drug smugglers and hawala operators are also under scrutiny, with officials linking their proceeds to the financing of terrorism. These coordinated efforts come amid sustained monitoring and operational reviews by the Lieutenant Governor, who has emphasised the need to break the wider support structure of militancy in J&K.
