Five injured as spinning ride crashes at Gujarat temple fair

Navsari, Aug 19: A major accident was reported at a crowded temple fair in Bilimora town, Navsari district, where a high-rise spinning ride came crashing down late Sunday night, leaving five people, including two children, severely injured.

The incident occurred around 10:30 pm at the fair organised in the temple premises. Police said a 32-seater spinning ride collapsed during operation, injuring two children, two women, and the ride operator.

“Eight to nine people were on the ride, of which five sustained injuries. Four were rushed to a hospital in Bilimora, while the operator, who suffered a severe head injury, was shifted to Surat,” said DySP B V Gohil.

A video of the crash has surfaced on social media, showing chaos at the fair. Police quickly rushed to the spot and took steps to prevent a stampede.

Authorities confirmed that permission had been granted for seven rides at the fair. A probe has been launched into the incident.
