Amazon India creates 1.5 lakh seasonal jobs ahead of festive surge

Mumbai, Aug 18: E-commerce giant Amazon India has announced the creation of over 1.5 lakh seasonal job opportunities across the country in preparation for the upcoming festive season, as demand surges across its platforms.

These roles — both direct and indirect — span over 400 cities, including metro hubs like Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad, as well as tier-2 and tier-3 locations such as Indore, Coimbatore, Lucknow, Raipur, and Kochi. The seasonal workforce will support operations across fulfilment centres (FCs), sortation hubs, and last-mile delivery stations.

Importantly, Amazon stated that thousands of women and over 2,000 persons with disabilities (PWDs) have been hired as part of this seasonal expansion, many of whom have already joined the company.

“Many of these associates stay on with us even after the festive period, and a large number return every year,” said Abhinav Singh, VP of Operations for India and Australia at Amazon. “We are committed to creating safe, inclusive, and financially empowering work environments for all our associates.”

To enhance employee welfare, Amazon has scaled up its Ashray rest centre network to 100 locations, offering delivery partners spaces to rest, hydrate, and recharge. The company has also initiated free health check-ups for more than 80,000 delivery associates, covering eye, dental, BMI, and general physician consultations.

Further boosting financial wellness, Amazon continues to offer its Early Access to Pay (EATP) programme, enabling associates to withdraw up to 80% of their earned basic salary before the month ends.

Amazon’s fulfilment centres are also equipped with on-site first aid facilities (AMCARE) to address immediate health concerns during shifts.

The seasonal hiring drive reflects Amazon’s preparation for India’s festive shopping season, while also showcasing its focus on sustainable employment practices, workplace safety, and inclusivity.
