Giriraj Singh slams Rahul Gandhi over voter list claims

Patna, Aug 16:Union Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh launched a sharp attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday, accusing him of misleading the public with false claims about the ongoing revision of Bihar’s voter rolls.

While visiting his Begusarai constituency, Singh dismissed Gandhi’s recent allegation that 65 lakh names had been removed from the electoral list. "He hasn’t even submitted affidavits for 65,000 people in the Supreme Court," Singh said. "He’s engaging in the same politics of lies and theatrics as always."

The Union Minister likened Rahul Gandhi to a "habitual liar," adding, “First he lies, then he apologises. This time will be no different. He is attempting to incite unrest across the country.”

Taking a jab at Gandhi's recent classroom visit in Karnataka, Singh remarked, “He was busy teaching schoolchildren, but he should first respond to the affidavit requested by the Election Commission. That's the real question.”

Singh also accused the Congress party of eroding democratic values throughout its history. “This is a party that has repeatedly throttled democracy. They ignore the rulings of both the Supreme Court and High Court. They function with an authoritarian mindset,” he said.

He went further to connect current events with historical actions, recalling the Emergency imposed by Indira Gandhi. “Even Rahul Gandhi’s grandmother defied the Supreme Court and declared an Emergency. This family has a legacy of suppressing democracy,” Singh claimed.

Describing Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a “messiah of the poor,” Singh contrasted Modi’s leadership with what he called Rahul Gandhi’s reliance on “vote bank politics and falsehoods.”

Singh also alleged that the Congress’s political strategy involved appealing to illegal immigrants. “They’re in Bihar trying to mislead voters. Their aim is to garner votes from Rohingyas and Bangladeshis to cling to power,” he stated.

These remarks come just a day before Rahul Gandhi is set to begin his "Vote Adhikar Yatra" from Sasaram, a campaign focused on alleged voter disenfranchisement in Bihar.
