Mangaluru, Aug 15: The celebration began with a grand welcome for the dignitaries, led by the school band, whose synchronized march created an atmosphere of pride and unity. The programme opened with a soulful rendition of the prayer song ‘Vande Mataram’, setting a reverent tone for the day.
The headmistress, Jositta Noronha, escorted the dignitaries to the flagpole, where the chief guest, Varun Rao Aroor (Alumnus, sales director – A R M Kia, director – United Toyota), had the honour of hoisting the national flag along with his wife, Dr Kalpa Kushalappa, orthopaedic surgeon at Tejaswini Hospital, Mangaluru.










The programme was conducted by the students of class 6. Reon Mascarenhas extended a warm welcome to the gathering. As a mark of appreciation, the headmistress presented a sapling, symbolising growth and respect. The PTA vice president Mohammad Iqbal, assistant headmaster Liya D’Souza, SPL - Laxminarayan and ASPL - Ison Mathias were also among the dignitaries on dais
The school choir then rendered a melodious patriotic song, filling the atmosphere with national pride. This was followed by speeches from Jenelia Vaz and Prajwal, who spoke on the significance of the day and the sacrifices made by the forefathers of our Nation.
In his address, the chief guest extended his wishes on the occasion of Independence Day. He emphasised the importance of national integration and urged both parents and teachers to instill values of love and respect for the nation in young minds. He also highlighted the need for children to learn about Indian history and develop a spirit of patriotism.
Prizes were distributed to the winners of various competitions held in connection with Independence Day, acknowledging their talents and achievements. A graceful patriotic dance performance by the students further added vibrancy to the event.
The celebration concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Alia Mulla, who expressed gratitude to all contributors. The programme was efficiently compered by Sam Serrao, whose presentation skills ensured its smooth flow.
The 79th Independence Day celebration at St Aloysius Higher Primary School was a memorable occasion that left everyone inspired with a renewed sense of patriotism and unity.
