Congress alleges massive voter fraud in 2024 polls, demands election nullification

New Delhi, Aug 14: The Congress on Thursday launched a scathing attack on both the Election Commission of India (ECI) and the BJP, alleging widespread voter fraud during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. At a press briefing at the AICC headquarters, senior Congress leader Pawan Khera accused the BJP of orchestrating a “criminal conspiracy” using fake voters and claimed the ECI acted as an enabler.

Khera’s remarks came in response to BJP MP Anurag Thakur’s recent press conference, where Thakur cited examples of fake voters in six key constituencies — including Rae Bareli and Amethi. Khera said the data Thakur presented actually strengthens Congress’s long-standing claims about electoral manipulation.

“Thank you, Anurag Thakur, for validating what we’ve been saying for months,” said Khera. “We took six months to gather data for one Assembly segment in Mahadevapura. The BJP, conveniently, accessed data for six entire Lok Sabha seats in just six days. If this isn’t collusion, what is?”

Citing examples from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Varanasi constituency, Khera alleged that the inclusion of nearly one lakh fake votes skewed the results. “If those 93,000 fake votes are removed, Priyanka Gandhi wins by over five lakh votes,” he claimed. He also mocked voter records that allegedly showed one individual, “Rajkamal Das,” as having 45 children. “This is Modi’s model of victory,” he quipped.

Khera also raised questions over the ECI’s selective actions, contrasting the quick notice sent to Rahul Gandhi after his August 7 press conference with the silence surrounding Thakur’s revelations. “Anurag Thakur publicly presents what could be criminal evidence, but no notice. Rahul Gandhi speaks — notice within hours. Why the double standards?” he asked.

When asked if Congress MPs would resign in protest, Khera rejected the idea, saying the party is seeking a full annulment of the election. “Once the election is declared void, resignations are irrelevant. Let them dissolve Parliament,” he said.

He dismissed BJP’s claims that Sonia Gandhi was added to voter lists in 1980, noting that the Janata Party was in power at the time. “They’re digging up files from 45 years ago to avoid answering questions about today,” he said.

Congress is now demanding public access to all electronic voter lists — especially for Varanasi — and has reiterated its call to declare the 2024 general election null and void.
