Govt reassigns villages between Kankanady city, Vamanjoor police stations

Mangaluru, Aug 14: The Karnataka government has issued an official notification reorganising the jurisdiction of Kankanady city police station and Mangaluru rural (Vamanjoor) police station limits.

As per government notification No. HD/77/POP/2020 dated May 31, 2021, Adyar and Arkula villages — earlier under Mangaluru rural (Vamanjoor) — will now come under Kankanady city police station limits. In a reciprocal move, Padavu village, which was under Kankanady city police limits, will now be brought under Mangaluru Rural (Vamanjoor) Police Station jurisdiction.

Following the reorganisation, areas in Padavu village including Kulshekhar, Silver Gate, Dairy Gate, Kulasekhara Chowki, Padavinangadi, Guru Nagar, Mary Hill Venkataramana Temple Road, Koppalakadu, Bandottu Yeyyadi, Dandakeri, Shaktinagar, Neethi Nagar, Police Lane, Preeti Nagar, Sanjaya Nagar, Mugodi, Karmik Colony, KHB, Nalyapadavu, Gandhakadu, Yeyyadi Industrial Area, Rajeev Nagar, Muttappa Gudi, Kakkebettu, Manjadka, Datta Nagar and Sidda Paddhu will now fall under Mangaluru Rural (Vamanjoor) limits.

Conversely, areas in Adyar and Arkula villages such as Adyar Padavu, Valachil, Somanatha Katte, Adyar Katte, Arkula, Srinivas College and Sahyadri College have been transferred to Kankanady city police station limits.

The government has issued the notification to formalise the changes and ensure administrative clarity in policing.
