Bengaluru, Aug 13: The warm and articulate voice of late Kannada anchor Aparna Vastarey is once again being heard across Bengaluru — this time on the newly operational Yellow Line of Namma Metro. Known for her clear bilingual announcements, Aparna had long been the familiar voice of the Purple and Green Lines, creating a comforting presence for thousands of daily commuters.
Following consistent public demand, her voice has now been reintroduced for announcements on the Yellow Line. Amid speculation that her voice might have been recreated using artificial intelligence, officials from the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) have clarified that these recordings are her own and authentic.

“Aparna Vastarey herself recorded the announcements for the Yellow Line a few months prior to her passing,” a senior BMRCL official was quoted as saying in confirmation.
Her voice continues to deliver travel guidance in both Kannada and English, seamlessly blending clarity with cultural connection. The development has been met with an emotional response from Bengalureans, many of whom remember her with great affection and respect.
Aparna Vastarey was much more than a metro announcer. A celebrated television presenter, she was widely recognised for anchoring prestigious Kannada TV programmes and government events, known for her dignified demeanour and mastery of the language. Her elegant narration style and natural fluency in Kannada made her a trusted and admired figure in Karnataka’s public sphere.
Her contribution to Namma Metro was especially cherished for representing Kannada identity in a modern urban setting. With her voice now echoing once again through the Yellow Line, Aparna Vastarey’s legacy continues to guide the city she loved — calm, clear, and unforgettable.
