Mumbai, Aug 11: The Independence Day weekend box office clash sees Rajinikanth’s Coolie outpacing Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR’s War 2 in advance ticket sales.
Data from Sacnilk reveals Coolie has garnered nearly Rs 14 crore in pre-bookings across multiple languages, with block bookings pushing the figure close to Rs 20 crore. Meanwhile, War 2’s advance sales stand at Rs 2.08 crore, rising to Rs 5.72 crore including block bookings.
Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, features a star-studded cast including Nagarjuna, Shruti Haasan, and a special cameo by Aamir Khan. Produced by Sun Pictures, it marks Rajinikanth’s 171st film.
War 2, directed by Ayan Mukerji, is the first on-screen pairing of Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, with Kiara Advani in a lead role. The film is a sequel to the 2019 blockbuster War and part of YRF’s spy universe.
As both films gear up for release, the race for box office dominance is set to captivate moviegoers across the country.
