New Delhi, Aug 10: To manage the festive rush and encourage advance bookings, the Indian Railways on Saturday announced a 20% discount on return tickets booked for travel during the October–December 2025 festival season.

Key Details of the Scheme:

• Travel Window (Onward Journey):

October 13 – October 26, 2025

• Return Journey Window:

November 17 – December 1, 2025

• Booking Starts:

August 14, 2025

• Eligible Trains:

Only non-flexi fare trains (excludes Rajdhani, Shatabdi, Duronto, etc.)

• Discount:

20% rebate on the base fare of the return journey only

Conditions to Avail the Discount:

• Passengers must book onward and return tickets together, using the connecting journey feature.
• The same passengers, class, and origin-destination pair must be used for both legs.
• Only confirmed tickets are eligible.
• No refunds will be allowed for bookings made under this scheme.

The Ministry clarified that the Advance Reservation Period (ARP) applies only to the onward journey. The return journey can be booked at any time after, as long as it falls within the eligible dates.

This limited-time offer is aimed at reducing congestion and encouraging early planning by passengers during one of the busiest travel periods of the year.
