Mayurbhanj, Aug 9: In a distressing incident in Mayurbhanj district, Odisha, a minor girl was reportedly kidnapped by her boyfriend, Prajnasu Das Babu, along with four accomplices, who then attempted to gangrape her.
The incident unfolded on August 4 when the girl was en route to her tuition classes. Under the guise of a sightseeing trip, the group led her to a nearby forest. Fortunately, the girl managed to escape and return home, where her family promptly filed a complaint with the Udala police station.
Following her statement, police arrested Prajnasu Das Babu, who has since been remanded to court, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend the other four suspects who remain at large.
This incident follows another alarming case from August 7, where a tribal woman was allegedly gang-raped by three individuals in a forested area of Angul district, with two minors among those arrested.
