Mumbai, Aug 7: In a major digital push, LTIMindtree Ltd. has secured a Rs 792 crore contract from the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) for a comprehensive upgrade of India’s PAN infrastructure under the ambitious PAN 2.0 project.

The IT services firm announced on Thursday that it will design, build, and operate a next-generation digital platform that will serve as the technology backbone for PAN 2.0. The scope of work includes end-to-end digitisation, automation, and integration of PAN and TAN services into a unified platform accessible to both citizens and businesses.

“This government-to-citizen initiative aims to simplify and centralise the country’s core financial identity system,” the company said in an official filing. The platform will enable online services covering application, validation, printing, and dispatch of PAN cards, with an AI-powered ecosystem enhancing speed and accuracy.

LTIMindtree also revealed that the project will involve data migration with AI-led deduplication, secure Aadhaar integration, a new data centre, disaster recovery setup, network and security operations, and multilingual citizen support services. A call centre, grievance redressal mechanism, and ITD on-premise operational facilities will also be established.

Venu Lambu, CEO and Managing Director of LTIMindtree, said, “We are honoured to be entrusted with building this next-generation platform. PAN 2.0 is a flagship opportunity to showcase how AI and digital technology can elevate the citizen experience.”

The project aligns with the Indian government’s broader vision for e-governance and digital public infrastructure.

As of 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, shares of LTIMindtree were trading 0.80% lower at Rs 4,995, even as the benchmark Nifty 50 index was down by 0.61%.
