Udupi, Aug 5: Udupi District Political Science Principal's and Lecturers’ Association organized a rejuvenation workshop and talent recognition programme at Karnataka Public School, Koteshwar.

Dr Shubhakara Achary, principal of Bhandarkars' College, Kundapura, inaugurated the event and said, "The study of political science shapes responsible citizens. There are many higher education and career opportunities available for students of the arts stream. Among them, the study of political science not only shapes responsible citizens but also builds a promising future. In this direction, lecturers need to make necessary changes in their teaching methods. Especially, they must prepare themselves to train students for competitive exams."

Presiding over the programme, the principal of the college, Prakash Shetty, said, "Political science is a subject that deals with contemporary issues. The study of this subject is crucial for the formation of a welfare state and the development of political awareness. Nowadays, students can access information through the internet, so lecturers must also utilize this technology in their preparation and conduct effective classes, thereby becoming successful educators."

Dr Shubhakachary delivered a lecture on the current challenges facing Indian democracy, while Chandranath M presented on innovative methods in political science teaching.

All the lecturers who secured excellent results in political science were congratulated and honoured during the programme.

Special recognition was given to Sandhya Nayak from Government PU College, Kundapura, for her support in distributing the book Savidhan Odu (read the Constitution) to all lecturers and political science students.

Harish B Nayak, lecturer at K P S Koteshwar and honorary advisor of the association, welcomed the gathering. Secretary and lecturer Kollur Mookambika PU College Sangeetha Shetty delivered the vote of thanks, and Prakash Kumar, Lecturer from Goliangadi Government PU College, compered the event. The prayer was led by Venkataramana Nayak, principal-in-charge of Byndoor College, in the presence of Dayanand, political science lecturer and immediate past president of the association. Raghavendra Kini introduced the guests.

On this occasion, the executive committee for the 2025–26 academic years was elected, with Vasu Mogaveera as honorary president, Harish B Nayak- honorary advisor, Edward Larson D'Souza- president, Sangeetha Shetty- secretary, Vijay Kumar- treasurer

Taluk-level office bearers are Karkala-Nemeraj Shetty, Kapu-Sujata Nayak, Kundapura-Sandhya Nayak, Hebri-Jagadeesh, Byndoor-Ravi Nayak, Brahmavar-Krishna, Udupi-Parameshwara Nayak.

The event was attended by resource persons Chandranath M from Government Pre-University College, Chelaru Association honorary president Vasu Mogaveera and the president Edward Larson D'Souza. Political Science principal's and lecturers from various pre-university colleges of Udupi district attended the workshop.
