Ahmedabad, Aug 5: In a tragic incident, a woman allegedly killed her police constable husband in the presence of their 7-year-old son and later died by suicide at their government quarters in Danilimda police line in Ahmedabad on Monday.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Ravi Mohan Saini, the victim, Mukesh Parmar, was attached to the A Division traffic police station. A preliminary probe revealed that the couple, Mukesh and Sangita, had been facing long-standing marital discord.

The altercation turned fatal on Monday morning when, during a heated argument, Sangita struck Parmar on the head with a wooden stick, leading to his death on the spot. Their minor son was present in the house at the time of the incident.

Sangita then ended her life by hanging herself. A suicide note recovered from the scene cited ongoing marital and financial stress as the reasons behind the drastic act, the DCP said.

Further investigation is underway.
