Kanpur, Aug 4: Sanjay Dwivedi, father of Pahalgam terror attack victim Shubham Dwivedi, has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to grant martyr status and compensation to the families of the victims of the April 22 terror attack. In two separate letters addressed to the Prime Minister, he stressed that the demand transcends politics and is a national issue.

"AAP MP Sanjay Singh is one of the few leaders who stand with the truth. He raised our concerns in Parliament with full force. I hope he continues to support our cause," said Dwivedi while speaking to ANI.

During his visit to Kanpur on Sunday, Sanjay Singh met the bereaved family and reiterated their demands. "The tragic loss cannot be repaid in any lifetime, but the Prime Minister and the government should ensure necessary steps are taken. Granting martyr status will send a strong message against terrorism," Singh said.

The AAP Rajya Sabha MP revealed that he raised the issue during the ongoing Monsoon Session, pressing for compensation and government jobs for the victims' families. He also criticised the central government for its delay in providing relief.

Shubham Dwivedi was among 26 people killed when terrorists opened fire on a group of tourists and locals in Baisaran Valley, near Pahalgam. In response, Indian armed forces launched Operation Sindoor on May 7 to avenge the attack.
