Faculty development programme ‘Smart teaching and quality learning’ held at SMVITM

Udupi, Aug 4: The IQAC, in association with the ISTE Faculty Chapter of Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management (SMVITM), Bantakal, Udupi, organized a five-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on ‘Smart teaching and quality learning: OBE Practices and Artificial Intelligence in Education’. The FDP was inaugurated on July 30 in the college premises. Faculty members from SMVITM actively participated in the programme.

The inauguration was graced by the esteemed chief guest and resource person, Dr K S Sowmiya Rani, who inspired the participants to explore and embrace Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education. She began her keynote address by sharing an insightful anecdote, setting an engaging tone for the session.

Dr Nagaraj Bhat, in-charge principal and dean academics, emphasized the importance of acquiring a clear understanding of Outcome-Based Education (OBE) to enhance teaching skills. He further highlighted the growing influence of AI across various domains and stressed the need for faculty members to continually evolve as both effective teachers and lifelong learners.

Prof Dr Radhakrishna S Aithal, CEO of Shri Sode Group of Institutions, Udupi, in his presidential remarks encouraged the faculty members to approach the FDP with a positive and inquisitive mindset, aiming for personal growth and professional excellence.
