Guwahati, Aug 4: Panic gripped moviegoers at a PVR cinema hall in Guwahati on Sunday night when a portion of the false ceiling collapsed mid-screening, injuring at least three individuals, including children.

The mishap occurred during the screening of the film Mahavatar Narsimha. Eyewitnesses said a section of the overhead structure suddenly gave way, sending debris crashing into the seating area and triggering chaos inside the hall.

Cinema staff immediately halted the screening and began evacuating the audience. Mall authorities also joined the rescue efforts, helping people exit safely. The injured were provided first aid on-site and are reportedly in stable condition.

Following the incident, the cinema has been temporarily closed for structural inspection. An official investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the ceiling collapse.

As of now, PVR officials and mall management have not issued any official statement regarding the incident.
