Media Release

Moodbidri, Aug 3: Corpus Christi Church in Moodbidri celebrated the Altar Servers’ feast with great devotion and enthusiasm on Sunday, August 3. The celebration began with adoration to the blessed sacrament followed by a solemn Eucharistic Mass, concelebrated by Fr Anil Ivan Fernandes and Fr Onil D’Souza with the participation of 70 altar servers aged between 8 and 15 years.

At the beginning of the Mass, the altar servers offered roses to their patron saint, St John Berchmans, as a symbol of their devotion and gratitude. They actively participated in the liturgy, demonstrating their commitment to serving at the altar with sincerity and discipline.

During the celebration, Fr Onil D’Souza, the parish priest and spiritual director, formally welcomed and blessed 17 new members into the Altar Servers’ Ministry. The new members took a solemn oath, pledging to serve with reverence and dedication. Each was presented with a badge and an instructional guide to assist them in their new role.

Fr Onil expressed heartfelt thanks to Norbert Martis, the newly appointed instructor for altar servers, for his efforts in mentoring and training the young children.

Following the Mass, all altar servers gathered for a fellowship breakfast, which was followed by engaging fun activities. The day concluded on a joyful note, reinforcing the spirit of unity, service, and faith among the young members of the parish.

The celebration was a meaningful reminder of the vital role altar servers play in the liturgical life of the Church.
