Mangaluru, Aug 3: Jayashreekrishna Parisara Premi Samiti, a registered NGO working for the development of coastal districts of Karnataka held a press conference on July 29 at the Mangaluru Press Club, emphasizing the commitment to completely eradicating communalism in the undivided Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts. The Samiti aims to maintain peace and communal harmony, in the districts ensuring that such issues do not disturb to the development of the districts

Speaking at the press meet, Tonse Jayakrishna A Shetty expressed the committee’s dedication to developing unity and a peaceful environment across the region.

Further, Tonse Jayakrishna A Shetty, founder of the Jayashree Krishna Parisara Premi Samiti a registered NGO, said, "Today’s press conference is being held to emphasize the need for environmental harmony, development and the eradication of communalism in our districts. Communalism has been on the rise since 1990 and in recent years, there have been several murders related to it. This has become a threat to the bright future of many younger generations of the districts. This must stop. Such incidents should never happen in our districts again in the future."

He added, "The government is also taking good steps in this regard and our government has appointed a good police commissioner in the district, who is doing commendable work. If we encourage him, communalism can be completely destroyed. The Government and the police will do their jobs, but it is the duty and responsibility of each and every citizen of our districts to maintain peace and harmony in the districts ensure that such incidents do not harm the younger generation.

"The responsibility is not only the government or the police; it is also of the common people. We must support the government properly. In Mumbai, our association includes members from all communities and religions and our goal is to support the development of our districts. Our districts, which is among the most intellectual, must lead in eradicating communalism. Our district is advanced in the field of education and has contributed several major national and co. operative banks to the country. We have many famous temples, mosques, dargahs and churches, important religious sites. It is also a popular tourist destination.

"With the goal of uplifting our districts to greater heights, we have organized this press conference by bringing together all eminent personalities. He concluded by urging media journalists to use their influence responsibly and impartially to promote the well-being of the districts, the state and the country, so that the general public becomes more aware of these important issues.

"This committee will henceforth greatly support us and act as a strong support system. We have already undertaken a few developmental initiatives. We have organized an educational tour and in order to promote tourism in Dakshina Kannada district, we have prepared a detailed project proposal and submitted it to the government. In addition, we have visited places like Byndoor to address the issue of coastal erosion and have brought it to the attention of the concerned Government departments, urging them to take appropriate measures. Moving forward, our committee will provide all possible supports to upcoming industrial ventures in our districts and actively contribute to initiatives that benefit the region. I speak of harmony and development. The government has already set up the necessary framework to counter communalism. We are working in alignment with this and continuing to promote communal harmony,” he stated.

In the press meet the Samiti President Nityananda D Kotian, former president Dharmapala Devadiga, Wilson Fernandes, district vice-president Arun Prakash Shetty, secretary Surendra Mendon, joint secretary G T Acharya and committee spokesperson Dayasagar Chowta and Suresh Kotian Moodbidri were present.
