Valdosta, Aug 3: A major emergency response was triggered at Valdosta Mall on Norman Drive on Saturday, leading to an immediate lockdown and evacuation of the premises.

Multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Valdosta Police Department and Lowndes County deputies, rushed to the scene following reports of a possible threat inside the mall.

Amidst growing panic and social media rumors of an active shooter situation, Valdosta Police swiftly clarified that there was no active shooter. However, it remains unclear whether any gunshots were actually fired during the incident, local news outlet WCTV reported.

Authorities confirmed the arrest of three individuals in connection with the incident, though further details regarding their identities or the cause of the emergency are yet to be released.

Police ordered all shoppers and staff to evacuate immediately, and no one is being allowed back inside as of now. Additional officers have been deployed as a precaution while investigations continue.
