UGCET/NEET: KEA releases provisional seat allotment results; Objections accepted till Aug 2

Bengaluru, Aug 1: The Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) has announced the provisional results of the first round of seat allotment for professional courses, including engineering, medical, dental, agriculture, and others. In a press statement released on Friday, KEA Executive Director H. Prasanna informed that candidates may raise objections to the provisional allotment via email by 11 am on August 2.

Once objections are reviewed, the final allotment results will be published. Following this, the admission schedule for courses other than medical and dental will be announced. Admissions to MBBS, BDS, and homeopathy courses in Karnataka are temporarily on hold as the national-level counselling results are still pending, Prasanna added.

Choice Entry Crucial After Allotment

Candidates are required to indicate their decision based on the seat allotted to them. Failure to do so will disqualify them from further rounds. The four options are:

• Option 1: Accept the allotted seat and join the college.

• Option 2: Accept the seat but still wish to participate in further rounds for a better college/course.

• Option 3: Reject the allotted seat but continue in future rounds with previous preferences.

• Option 4: Exit the KEA allotment process completely.

Candidates choosing Option 3 or 4 will now have an additional chance to re-enter and select Option 1 or 2, provided they do so within the stipulated deadline. This move comes after complaints last year about unauthorized choices being entered at cyber centers without parental knowledge.

Medical Document Verification Simplified

In a significant change, candidates allotted seats in private medical colleges no longer need to visit KEA for original document verification. Instead, document submission and verification will happen directly at the respective colleges — a shift aimed at reducing logistical hassles.

KEA has urged candidates and parents to make well-informed decisions and consult thoroughly before locking in their options, as certain choices cannot be changed later.
