Patna, Jul 30: In a major pre-poll push, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has announced a substantial hike in incentives for ASHA and Mamta workers, recognizing their vital contribution towards strengthening rural healthcare across the state.

As per the revised structure, ASHA workers will now receive Rs 3,000 as monthly incentive, a threefold increase from the earlier Rs 1,000. Similarly, Mamta workers will be given Rs 600 per delivery, double the previous amount of Rs 300.

Taking to social media platform X, the Chief Minister stated, “Since the formation of our government in November 2005, we have consistently worked towards improving the health infrastructure in Bihar. ASHA and Mamta workers have played an instrumental role in this journey. This revision in honorarium is a gesture to acknowledge their tireless efforts in rural healthcare delivery.”

The announcement comes at a crucial time as Bihar heads into Assembly elections later this year. Political observers have noted that the latest move could be aimed at energizing grassroots workers and reinforcing public welfare narratives.

Earlier this month, on July 17, CM Kumar had also unveiled a much-anticipated free electricity scheme. Starting August 1, 2025, all domestic consumers in Bihar will receive up to 125 units of electricity free of charge each month. The benefit will reflect in power bills issued for July and is expected to impact nearly 1.67 crore households.

In another significant directive, the Chief Minister instructed the Education Department to immediately assess vacant teaching posts and fast-track the process for the fourth Teacher Recruitment Examination (TRE-4). The step is being seen as part of efforts to address the teacher shortage and boost quality education in government schools.

With a series of back-to-back welfare measures, CM Nitish Kumar appears to be reinforcing his governance track record ahead of the crucial electoral battle in Bihar.
