Mumbai, Jul 25: In a heartbreaking incident reported from Navkar City in Naigaon, Mumbai, a four-year-old girl lost her life after falling from the window of a 12th-floor apartment on Wednesday evening, July 23.

The deceased, identified as Anvika Prajapati, had been seated on top of a shoe cupboard by her mother just moments before the fall. CCTV footage shows that around 8 pm, Anvika and her mother were preparing to step out. The little girl is seen stepping into adult footwear while her mother locks the door.

As Anvika wanders near the entrance, her mother lifts her and places her atop the shoe cupboard. While the mother puts on her slippers and picks up Anvika's sandals, the child climbs onto the windowsill. In a tragic turn, she loses balance and falls before her mother can react.

Shocked by the fall, the mother screamed for help, prompting neighbours to rush to the scene. Anvika was immediately taken to Sir DM Petit Hospital in Vasai West, where doctors declared her dead.

Local authorities have registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident.
