Udupi: Hands-on learning sessions held by SMVITM students at Innanje schools

Media Release

Udupi, Jul 23: As part of the community outreach initiative, students of Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management (SMVITM), Bantakal, conducted hands-on learning sessions at SVH English Medium High School and SVH Kannada Medium High School, Innanje on July 18.

The programme aimed to spark interest in innovation, STEM education, and creative problem-solving among school students through interactive and engaging activities.

The session at both SVH English Medium School and SVH Kannada Medium School focused on ‘IoT Applications’ including the basics of electronics and sensor-based systems. Students were introduced to Arduino programming, LED control, and simple automation using sensors. Demonstrations were conducted using TinkerCAD simulators, allowing participants to visualize and test real-time circuit designs.

Basic coding logic, block programming, and creative thinking exercises were part of the agenda, making it accessible and fun for students from rural backgrounds.

The programme received enthusiastic participation from the students and appreciation from the school faculty. The efforts of SMVITM students in explaining complex technological concepts in a simplified and bilingual manner helped bridge the gap between technology and school-level education.

About 60 students from class IX and X were benefited by the session from each of the schools.

The event was coordinated by faculties of SMVITM Deepak Rao and RaghavendraHegde.
