Puttur: Man misbehaves with woman on bus, held by public while trying to flee

Puttur, Jul 23: A case has been registered at the Puttur women’s police station after a man allegedly misbehaved with a woman passenger on a KSRTC bus traveling from Mangaluru to Puttur.

According to the complaint, the incident took place around 6:30 pm on July 22, when the complainant, who had just finished college, was traveling on a KSRTC bus from Mangaluru to Puttur. As the bus reached Mani in Bantwal taluk, a man sitting next to her allegedly behaved inappropriately. The woman objected to his behaviour and immediately informed her father over the phone.

When the bus arrived at the Puttur KSRTC bus stand, the accused attempted to escape through the emergency exit window. However, the complainant's father and members of the public managed to apprehend him. He was identified as Mohammad Touheed from Mangaluru.

Based on the complaint, a case has been registered under Crime No. 56/2025 at the Puttur women’s police station under Section 75 of the BNS 2023. The accused has been taken into police custody, and further investigation is underway.
