Reasi, Jul 21: A landslide triggered by heavy rains struck the old track to the Vaishno Devi shrine in Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi district on Monday morning, leaving at least four pilgrims injured, officials said.

The incident took place around 8:50 am near Gulshan Ka Langar at Banganga in Katra, the starting point of the yatra where pony riders usually gather.

Following the landslide, a rescue operation was launched immediately. All four trapped pilgrims were pulled out safely and shifted to a hospital for treatment, officials confirmed.

Heavy rains have been lashing Katra, the base camp for devotees heading to the revered shrine atop the Trikuta hills. Rescue efforts were still ongoing when last reports came in.
